The Spruce Kings inched closer to Merritt for second place in the Interior Conference by beating Trail 4-1. The Centennials fell 4-1 to Vernon, meaning the Kings are just three back with two games in hand. Gerry Fitgerald's goal 47 seconds into the second period would stand up as the game winner.
The Kings will look for the two game sweep in Trail Saturday, before traveling to Salmon Arm Sunday for an afternoon contest.
